What Co-operation Does . The City of Sullivan has been seeking a factory for the

city fo a number of years, but so far all efforts have been in vain? although one or two times it looked as though the ef

forts might get the desired results.

Perhaps one of the reasons that we are still without in

dustry -is because there isn't too much co-operation between

the various groups withm the city. And it we are to get in

dustry; all the groups must pull together.

Our local softball league is a good example of pulling

together. It is something that was needed in the town, but there was no place to play, and there were no teams to play. So a group of sportsmen got together and organized an eight-

team league. Thus they had the teams to play, but still were

without an adequate field.

Then, the American Legion offered the use of their

field just east of the Legion Home and said they would give

the league free use of the field. That was well, but there was no infield, bleachers or lights. The R.E.M.C. provided the

poles for the lights at cost, and then set them up free of

charge. The Public Service Company gave the Legion the eqnipment for the lights at cost and employees of the P.S.C. donated their time to string the wire.

Lights were needed, and the Sullivan City School Board.

headebyH. W. Branstetter, president, and Superintendent

ot Schools J. Allan Campbell offered to loan the lights from

the football field. The Jaycees, members of the teams, and

the Legion worked together to put the field in shape for playing- and night softball in Sullivan became a reality. Sujjh co-operation can be given by all of Sullivan. With

everyone in the city assisting, instead of a few hindering, then we will get industry into Sullivan. We got a lighted softball' field through cO-operation. We can get industry the same way.

But unless there s that soirit of helninff instead n-f

hindering, Sullivan will tontinue to be a city without indus

try. -

FEAR FORREST FIRES IN FALL

BEDFORD, Ind., Aug 4 (UP)

A forrester said today that

excessive, rains this summer will

increase-the forest fire hazards

in the falL.U. S. Forest Service

Supervisor Rudolph H. Grabow

said the heavy rains caused abnormal growth of "light vegetation" which in turn will provide more potential fuel for fires after it dries. He said there have been 21 forest fires so far this year in Indiana, with 222 acres of land burned over.
