"Love" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, August 1. The Golden Text is: "We have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him" (I John 4:16). Among the citations which comprise the Lesson-Sermon is the following from' the Bible: "Hear me, 0 Lord; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto rne according to the multitude of thy tender mercies" (Psalms 69:16). "They wandered in
the wilderness in a solitary way;
found no citv to dwell in.
Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried . i r .1 1 1 J

twelve years after the fall of Jerusalem. Our golden text for this lesson Is found in Psalms 119:105, "Thy word Is a lamp unto my feet, and light unto my path." OUR BIBLE UTHHEN Jeremiah called Baruch,

X a man on whom God counted. His work was done well, and we read that, "When they heard all the words, they were afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words." , Young people will do well to ponder this incident. In the varied contacts of young Christians in this modern day, we may be used of the Holy Spirit in making known
the words of God in countless ways.

Leading statesmen of the world are endeavoring to fashion an instrument for world peace through the organization of the United Nations. The dream of universal peace is not a new concept. It is as old as the prophets of Israel, and has been the hope of men throughout the ages. The prophet Isaiah foresaw and foretold the end of' war and the reign of world peace. And Jesus, the Messiah, who brpught mankind a new revelation of God, and taught people to love one another instead of to hate one another, was called the Prince of Peace. The whole world longs for peace today, and peace is attainable through application of the teachings of the Scriptures in national and international affairs as well as in ordinary human relations. The Church stands as a guiding light to point man's footsteps to the paths of peace.
