CHRIST SALUTE YOU." ' Rnmnna 1R:1fi ' The meeting here on N. State street is progressing nicely, interest has been good, and the sermons have been excellent. Only a few nights remain now as the meeting must close Sunday night. We urge every one to come and hear these last few lessons, we know it will be worth while. The Mt. Zion Congregation announces a meeting to begin Wednesday evening, Dec. 3rd with Bro. Higgins of Bedford doing the preaching and Bro. Goble of Farmersburg leading the singing. Services to begin each evening at 7:00. Also Bro. A. R. Kepple will speak there in the afternoon of Nov. 30th which is this coming Sunday. All within driving distance will do well to hear Bro. Kepple. Roscoe Higcins of Bedford, Indiana, will preach at the Cass Church of Christ, Sunday morning and evening, November 30.

GOSPEL of CHRIST WILL GOD HATE ME FOR WHAT I AM WRITING?

Dear reader, do we always think when we

speak or write, about what the Lord said, "But I say -unto you, That every idle word' that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in

the day of judgment. For by the words thou

shall be justified, and by thy words thou shall

be condemned." Matt. 12:36-37.

In the long ago Solomon penned these words

(Prov. 6:16-19), "These six things doth the

Lord hate: . . ." Among the six is a false witss that speaketh lies. When we read discours

es on religion, hear sermons on the, radio or listen to general religious conversations, we wonder if many of these writers, speakers and religious conversationalists ever read of tfle things God hates. Let us think about some of the things we have heard over the radio and read, in the paoers. Did you ever hear the following words?: ?Dear friends, all you have to do is to believe in Christ and you shall be saved, for whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." Now, what does the following mean?: "Even so faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself. Yea, a man will say, thou hast ( faith, and I have works: show me thy faith apart from thy works, and by my works will show thee my faith. ... Ye see that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith." (James 2:17, 18 and 24). In the light of God's word, does God not hate the person who makes such statements as the men referred to above? Did you ever hear this statement?: "It makes no difference whether you are sprinkled with

water or water is poured on you or you are immersed, just so you arp sincere." Paul, in writing to the Ephesians, said, "There is one baptism . . ." Eph. 4:5 and in, Rom. 6:4, he said, "We were buried therefore with him through baptism unto his death." Thjs is the only baptism that caused men and women to be added to the Lord's church. Have you ever made a statement about your relieion or "your church" that would cause God to hate you? You might ask, just what do you mean by this? I mean any statement to substantiate "your stand" that you cannot find in God's word will cause God to hate you. For this would mislead someone and probably cause his soul to be lost if he followed your teaching. In the year 445 B. C. Nehemiah received permission from King Artaxerxes of Persia to go back to the holy city of Jerusalem to aid the Jews in restoring it to His people. After the walls were built and other important tasks performed, Nehemiah commanded God's word to be read to all the people and it was, "From early morning to midday." Friends, that is just what is needed today. If all people would turn to the New Testament, which is God's law for man today, for his faith and doctrinal practice, he would be well pleasing unto God. Therefore, if we use creedsdisciplines, church manuals, and all edicts and conclusions of ecclesiastical bodies we are not using "God's power," the gospel, to save men but are substituting our own philosophy and causing God to hate us.
