They said they were discouraged, and wondered if the people were forgetting already the debt they owe to the war dead of World War I and World War II. With many more of war dead from Sullivan to be returned for reburial at home, there is need for more of the members of the local American Legion post to take part in the military funerals mi m.n iiii(.itijjiBpf,itiy'i)i.iwppW!ii Popcorn Poppers GIVES YOU ALL THESE automatic penper service without stirring or, shaking acts as grill or stove! serves as qu'ck heating kettle. 5. rnWAM j3C1 " BROOKS "THIS IS AMERICA" CxAMES IN THE NEWS that will accompany the rites for these war dead. The Rev. Thomas Jennings, who is Sullivan County Veterans Affairs officer, hopes that more of the legionnaires will turn out for these funerals,. and that some of them will volunteer for the 'rifle squads and the drill teams that must be present if a war hero is going to be given a full military funeral. We were given a letter the other day by a local man, who received it from a relative in England. He brought it in for us to read, and we are going to pass it along. Parts of it go like this: "I am writing this evening to thank you so very, very much for your parcel received this morning. I just didn't know how to express my feelings when it i arrived. I was too excited to open it, after seeing the lise of contents on the outside. ' "I don't think you could have sent anything more welcome, and such a lovely variety of goods. Everything in it was either rationed here or unobtainable. ,We haven't seen rice since before the war, and the sugar and tea was a real surprise as you : must know we only get very small rations of it. We're longing to try the jninced beef pudding. j It really sounds delicious and will be such a help for a meal one day next week, for we find it so difficult with only a shillI in.ps worth (20 cents) of meat each a week. ,(We don't 'ever see Spam in the 1 1 k b I - " ,5.1

THE POLICY OF OUR FUNERAL HOME is to supply good materials within the reach of a bereaved family's means, however limited this may be, and to serve them as well as if the amount were many times as much, IT IS OUR PURPOSE TO EASE THE BURDEN NOT TO INCREASE IT.

We thought that was very thoughtful of you for it is rationed very severely here, and towards the end .of the month we have to think twice before washing our hands, it gets so short."
