Greyhounds tangle with Hutsonville across the bridge. . ' The Fairbanks Trojans will attempt to even scores with Vigo County teams; in a game with Blackhawk tonight, then they swing into county league games with the Merom Beavers at Graysville Friday night. The Plowboys, who lost their first two games of the season, meet a Vigo County squad Friday when the Riley Cossacks travel to the Farmersburg gym. Carlisle's Indians will also try to get into the win column when

they tangle with the Oaktown Oaks in Oaktown. The Tiger3' bested the Oaks last week. !

"The United States, the Soviet Union, Venezuela, Iran, former Netherlands colonies and India produce 90 per cent of the world's petroleum. In February, 1947, people in London, England, did not see the sun for 21 successive days, the longest sunless period on record for the city. Sharks hunt by their sense of smell.

The Women's Society of Christian Service twill meet in the Methodist church parlor Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Please bring gifts of canned fruit and jellies to be sent to the Methodist Childrens Home at Lebanota, Ind. All ladies of the church are cordially ilnvited to attend this meeting. Please note change of time.

Coach Gordon Keck of the Dugger Bulldogs must have been surprised when he opened a Terre Haute newspaper Saturday morning and saw that his Bulldogs had won a basketball game Friday night. You see, Dugger doesn't play until Nov. 21, and apparently the Terre Haute paper didn't know that Pleasantville is using the Dugger gym for their home games.

. Pound for pound, nylon clothf Is about three times aa strong as Cotton. Sails for boats, traditionally made of cotton, may shortly be fashioned of this material.

You might say that the most unpopular song in Indiana this winter will be "The Whistle Song." What with some of the officials breathing through their whistles, such noises are going to bo plentiful in the goal-halls around the county. Carlisle's struggle with Lyons saw 39 fouls called. There were 27 in the game between New Lebanon and Oaktown. Up in Farmersburg, the whistle blew for 43 fouls, with 23 of them being called against the Plowboys and 20 on the Beavers. Maybe someone told the officials they should whistle

while they work.

Washington join the S.LA.C. teams that start the season this Friday. The Hatchets, who will play only three non-conference games, start in against the Bulldogs at Bicknell. Huntingburg, whose Hunters hope they will be happier playing basketball than they were playing football, meet Mitchell on their home floor.

The two round-ball schools in the conference. Jasper and Bedford, both of them victorious in opening games,' play each other at Bedford and one of them will taste defeat for the first time. Both won opening games last week.

will meet those same Oaks Friday at Oaktown.

Reports say that the Graysville Greyhounds suffered a case of stage-fright in their game with Shelburn last Friday. Whatever it was. very few persons figured that the Hounds would be beaten as badly as the Panthers whipoed them. From their showing against Hymera,' the Hounds seem to be a pretty fa'r ball club and should cause trouble before the year is out.

The biggest disappointment so far has been Farmersburg. The Plowboys were expected to be good, but they didn't look too good against Honey Creek. Their game with Merom was nip-and-tuck, and that last quarter rally showed that the Plowboys have some power. Tonight they meet Shelburn and it looks like the Panthers will chalk up number three. Friday, the Plowboys Jjay Riley and might win that first

i game.
