A 100-mile-an-hour locomotive that burns coal and is driven by eight electric motors haa been built recently. This version of the "old iron horse" uses 'King Coal's heat to drive a f.OOO horsepower steam turbine. The team turbine runs two electric generators which supply power to the driving motors.

SOCIETY PLEASANTVILLE P. T. A. I The Pleasantville P.T.A. sponsored an old-fashioned pie supper and' masquerade party Friday night, October 31. It proved to be a great success and prizes were awarded as follows: best character, Jewel Dean Robertson; best family, Beverly James and Margaret Figg; most comical, Bill Mitchell; best child, Jerry Harbin; prettiest, Betty Medley; most popular girl, Virginia Jerrels; most popular man, Squire Bedwell. The next meeting of the P.T.A. will be on November 25th and every parent fs" invited to come and help. ' ALPHA DELPHIAN CLUB I HOLDS MEETING I The Alpha Delphian club met Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. A. B. Libke. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Dillon Routt. The by-laws were read in unison. The second program was ' given on the subject for the year "Preparing Today's Youth , for Tomorrow's Citizenship." I Mrs. Ralph Adams read a paper I "Family Life, Health, Habits and ' Human Relatives" which was very well prepared and held the undivided attention of all members. Mrs. F. G. Alig read a paper, "Keeping Up With the Teen Agers." Mrs. Alig pointed out that social studies in the schools is a great help to the youth of today. It was well given. There were twenty-one mem-
