SADIO ARTISTS, standing to lose ?2,000,000 in their transcription earnings when Music Czar James C. Petrillo's recording ban goes into effect Dec. 31, are bitterly attacking the proposed shut-down ot ihe recording industry. While Bing Crosby and Bud Abbott and Lou Costello stop making their transcribed shows, the going will be tough for top disc Jockeys, like Paul Whiteman and Ted HusIng, who will be unable to obtain recordings of popular tunes Introduced next year. Cutting off an annual $5,000,000 earned by recording musicians in order to Increase the demand for "live" musical shows, the Petrillo move comes as answer to the Taft-Hartley law which fqrbids renewals of royalty contracts that pay $3,000,000 annually to the AFL Federation of Musicians.
