U. S. HEARS VETO CRITICIZED

They'll Do It Every Time

By Jimmy Hatlo

The Arrows were a happy bunch of boys Friday night after stopping the Hatchets. The taaitle-

urry in the dressing room was We've got the Hatchet, let's use t ir on Garfield." . ' ' . l The Arrows for the first time ' this season played as a unit, inLstead of an eleven men on a football field. The ends played a battler than average ball game, and both Wernz and Anderson have apparently come up with the tknack of protecting the flank. On at least two occasicns Friday night, Red went in to smas,'; the Hatchet interference so that Hil'gediek could come up for the tackle from the secondary.

Wernz did the same thing a : couple of times on the other .flank. Jim Sevier, who handled Anderson's spot for awhile, f turned in a beautiful play. In the second quarter, Riney tried to circle to Arrow right end and i Sevier went in to stop the play. kBut a Hatchet interference threw a block into him and as he fell, he caught the ball carrier on the chin and dropped him for a yard loss.

Scully and Plnkstcn, bothj playing with bad legs, and George Laskey, with an injured leg, were in the game and played as hard ( as anyone else on the team. Even Mil Carter seemed to be fired up to the win the game, and that is -unusual. He completed four out of four passes in that 89-yard drive fcr the winning touch- . down, and Brodie hit on one dur

ing the drive.

This corner had a little consolation while the Arrows were being beaten in their first two games. The old home town was racking up three straight something they never did when we were around there. But Friday night, when the Arrows win, what hawiens? Well, Fort Wayne South Side beats the old home town 13 to 7. .by intercepting a pass in the fourth auarter and runningit for a touchdown.
