July 16, 1937: Wesley Bond, the man who miraculously cheated death yesterday ' at Baker mine which snuffed out the lives of 20 of his companions, got a chance to tell the World about it on a 1 -minute nation-wide radio hook-up. It is a strange coincedence that two men who died in the Baker mine explosion yesterday were born on the same day. They were Walter Goodman and George Gallagher. Uncle .Billy Mart;n, pioneer journalist, died at Shelburn. The Mayfield Clothing Store in Sullivan this week celebrated its seventh anniversary. A new tyoe garoplane, capable of direct take-off and vertical descent like' a helicopter, has completed its trials at the British Air Ministry's experimental station, ! ' '
