in this activity, which may be applied to all types of 4-H Club work.

Last year county winners were named in Deleware, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Hamilton, Henry, Jennings, LsGrange, Lake, Madison, Shelby, Morgan, Owen.Posey, Rush, Vermillion and Tippecanoe counties. Each county winner receives a gold-filled medal of honor. State and national winner in 1946 was Betty Lou Haymaker, 16, of Indianapolis, who received a trip to the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago and a $200.00 college scholarship, provided by Westinghouse Educational Foundation. Among her work simplification accomplishments was analyzing the job of washing clothes and proposing the use of an electric hot water heater in the basement, changing the breakfast nook into a combination laundry and eating room, installing an automatic washer, a drier and building some shelves. She estimated these improvements could be made at a cost of $490.00. Six state winners are selected for national honors, each receivnv a $200.00 college scholarship. The activity is conducted under he direction of the Extension Service of the State Agricultural College and USDA cooperating.

Mrs. Cecil Burk, all of Sullivan.
