history More than 20 years ago the Sullivan High School band was organized with about as many members in its body. Wearing u n i f o r m s of white pants, white shirts and skull caps, the early group cast a striking figure as one of the few high school, bands of southern Indiana. Today the immaculate purple uniforms colorfully trimmed with sparkling gold braid and numerous award decorations are quite a climb from the start made by those early pioneers. Over the state in the years of its organization

the Sullivan High School marching band has demanded and received the attention of all such groups holding forever the respect and admiration of these schools who have watched them win several state first placings and hundreds of single honors. Many of these boys and girls have gone out cf the halla of Sullivan High with the breast of their band tunics covered with ribbons of achievement. You can remember them for they were ycur children. Today the band boasts a new crop of musical prodigies and requests your support in ciimbiiig the ladder to greater heights in the Indiana High School Band competitive world, r Don't fail to see tliem in concert Thursday evening for their presenta tion will no doubt call to mind others whom you have watched filling those same instrumental places. Wilfred Perigo, director of the Sullivan High School band, came to this locality last year where he immediately set about to. further the fine work already begun by Tolman Gharst, his predecessor. A graduate of Indiana State Teachers' College, Mr. Perigo becan his band instructing very! early, having guided the Concannon High School musical department during his senior year at State. . ' Immediately following graduation from State he became a member of the Third U. S. Marine Corps, later being medically discharged. A year and a half at Valparaiso preceded his moving to Sullivan where in addition to his high school band duties he has undertaken the job of tutoring a Jr. High School Band. Gaining a first and second rating in the state the last two years, the band has much to be proud of and much to look forward to next season.'
