REMEMBER the day you first . romped away in that Buick of yours? How those eight Fireball cylinders fairly floated you over the hills how those road-steady two tons of lively car answered sweetly every light touch of your hand on the wheel how you glided along with foursquare BuiCoil springing smoothing every wrinkle in the road? That's what your Buick was built to do. Years and years of that kind of driving are in it especially when it gets the interested, informed car care this fine an automobile should have. That doesn't mean just periodic
lubrication, a body wash, battery check or bolt-tighten. It means thorough attention by competent Buick men attention that keeps a Buick always a Buick. Buicks are our babies. Even the smallest details are handled the way they should be for a Buick. We have Buick tools that do jobs better and quicker. We have men who know Buicks best. We have Buick-engineered parts that are precisely right for your car. Put that all together and it's Buick car care. Pretty clear, isn't it, that here is where your Buick will receive the best attention? After all, we love 'em heart and soul.

One of the things thai play a part in Fireball snap is Buick's wafer-thin steel cylinder gasket. Just 15 thousandths of an inch thick, it's a "must" for the high compression this powerful straight-eight is designed for. Other kinds that are thicker cut down the compression and the car's liveliness. In carbon and valve jobs, or any other where this gasket must be replaced, only this Buick gasket will assure the fit Buick engineers intended. No wise Buick owner would have any other in his engine. Just another example of how you get more for your money in major adjustments, tune-ups, lubrication or anything your car needs when you make sure it gets Buick car care. '

N 1946 the Public Service Company of Indiana supplied homes,
industries, and farms located in 70 of the 92 counties of Indiana
with 1,380,000,000 kilowatt hours of electricity. Over a billion kilowatt hours ! How; much electricity is that ? . A "kilowatt hour" is the accepted unit Tor measuring the amount
of electricity used. It means, the use of 1,000 watts of electrical energy for one hour ("kilo" is from the Greekmeaning "one thousand"). Translated in terms of mechanical power, a "kilowatt hour" of electricity represents the use of 1.34 "horse power" for one hour. The average home in our territory uses about 1,000 kilowatt hours a, year. A billion kilowatt hours, then, is enough electricity for a million average homes for a year! Actually, we supply about 215,000 homes in Indiana with electricity. (This includes over 20,000 farms.) Then there are nearly 36,000 stores and other commercial enterprises that average about 4,200 kilowatt hours each per year. . . and over 2,800 governmental agency customers using a combined total of 84,444,000 kilowatt hours per year. But this still leaves the greatest share of the billion kilowatt hours to account for. Who uses them ? Here's where Industrial Indiana comes in ! We v serve 2,600 industrial firms which use huge amounts of electric power. Altogether these industrial users consumed 683,000,000 kilowatt hours in 1946. The coal industry of Indiana used the most, automotive accessories and parts manufacturers were the next largest, steel and wire running a close third, and the thousands of other diversified industries utilized the remainder. k What is our PRESENT generating capacity? Let's look at it this way: When the war came, we were not caught "off base." Our generating capacity was in the process of being expanded in anticipation of tremendous electric power demands, and the war accelerated the pace. Since 1940 we have added 187,500 kilowatts of new capacity and now have installed generating capacity of 309,674 kilowatts , . which means that if it were possible for our customers to use this capacity 100 percent of the time, we could generate 2,713,000,000 kilowatt hours per year! What FUTURE capacities are we planning? Right now we have on order an additional generating unit for installation in our Edwardsport plant, and another unit for a newly-planned generating plant near Npblesville. When these two units are completed, our ability to generate electricity will reach a potential 3 H billion kilowatt hours a year! ' t . , And the cost of electricity? . . . Our customers now enjoy the Lowest ElECTRlC RATESjhey'ye ever had ! :- "
