CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SERVICES "Doctrine of Atonement" Is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, April 20. The Golden Text is: "The Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord" (Isaiah 59:20). Among: the citations which comprise the Lesson-Sermon is the following from the Bible: "As for me, I will call upon God; and the Lord shall save me" (Psalms 55:16). "And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if .he have committed sins, they' shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healedThe effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 5:15, 16). The Lesson-Sermon also includes the following passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker. Eddy: "It is neither Science nor Truth which acts through blind belief, nor is it the human understanding of the divine healing Principle as manifested in Jesus, whose humble prayers were deep and conscientious protests of Truth, of man's likenesj to God and of man's unity wit! Truth and Love" (p. 12). ST. MARY CHURCH Mass Schedule April 20 Sullivan, 7:30 Shelburn, 9:30.

It is breathtaking - 5 v " ' " Only the patience and skill of the gardener, comHineH with the imagination and artistry of the arranger, could produce such perfection. Yet there is something sad about the most beautiful bouquet. In a few; hours it begins to wither and its glory vanishes. Cut flowers must die, because they no longer receive life from their roots. . And there are people like that. Kind and moral, helpful and respectablebut cut away from that spiritual root that would make their goodness vibrant, contagious and enduring. -.. The Church is here to remind us that roots are vitally necessary. But that is not all. ' ' - . The Church offers us God's Word and" through that Word joins us to the Source of life. If accepted. His power will flow into us, nourishing our, lives and making them increasingly beautiful ana useful. : "As the branch1 cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide, in the .vine; no more, can ye, ex-, cept ye abide in Me."
