Be A Good Sport

Play for. the 1947 sectional championship will start tonight in the Community. Gym. When it does, everything else will take a back seat. In Indiana, there is nothing like basketball to capture the fancy of the crowd. In Sullivan, eleven teams will try for the championship. Each of these teams has played, a full schedule of games during the season. Each has known victory and defeatBut now they all' start even. Past records mean nothing when the tourney starts. '' ' The Times hopes that the best team wins, but more important, The Times hopes that all teams will show the best possible sportsmanship, and applaud the loser for trying, as well as the winner for his victory. It is this" attitude that makes the Indiana acceptance of high school basketball of such importance. . After all, it isn't whether a team wins or loses, but how the supporters of that team take what happens. That shows the true feelings of a. school and its supporters.

MR. TAFT WON'T CO-OPERATE Some of the publicity men for the Republican Party have been working overtime to make Senator Robert A. Taft, of Ohio, appear to be a liberal in the true sense of the word. Uut, the Ohio Republican just doesn't co-operate. Just when there is a chance that the publicity might be succeeding, Taft makes seme -remark that shows again that he is after all the same kind of a leactionary statesman that he was in the years when he was fighting rearmament before the war.
