Over 15,000 new meters were put in operation on customers' premises.
Over 75,000 distribution transformers were installed.
Over 33,000 wood pofss (47S earfoaclsj were placed in service.
Over 3,000,000 pounds of copper wire were strung, over the system.
Over 1,000,000 tons of Indiana coat were mined and consumed in electric power generation.
The total outlay for the above, plus payroll and taxes, and the myriad of other cash expenditures, aggregated over $29,000,000!
. . . and there's still a Big job to do;
We accomplished a lot in 1946. But there's still a, lot more to be done to increase your electric generating and distributing facilities as fully as we're planning. The war was everyone's number one job for so long that we still haven't been able to get all the different kinds of equipment we need. The factories which make equipment report that the heaviest demands in history are now being made upon them for supplies. Like our own Company, electric
companies all over the nation are anxious to increase their facilities to meet the increased service requirements of their customers. Under the circumstances, we're proud of the job we were able to accomplish during the past year. But we fully realize that some of our customers are still waiting for service and we hope, in the year ahead, to be able to make even greater strides toward fully accommodating all the deeds of all of our customers.
Our complete 1$46 AnnuaJ Report to Stockholders will fee available about March 1, 1947. We shall be glad to send a copy of this report to you, upon request.
