Thursday Club Meets The January meeting of the Thursday Club was held at the home of Miss Hsster Hoover January 30. Mrs. Mabel Minich, '. president of the club, called the meeting to order and all joined in repeating the club collect. A tribute to Mrs. Neta B. Griffin, who passed away January 16, was given by Mrs. Ella Rogers. A fable from a McGuffys reader was read by Mrs. Bertha Evans. A story about Amelia Earhart and her flying was read by Mrs. Rose. Willis from a modern school reader. Mrs. Faye Kixmiller read a paper on the origin of the alphabet. The hostess served chicken salad, . wafers, date pudding and coffee , to . seventeen members. Those present were Mesdames French Willis, Vernor Johnson, Frank Warner, W. R. Johnson, Lou McConncll, Aimee Douthitt, Nelle M. Trigg, Edna Kresge, Xenia Hoover, Albert S. Wiggs, E. W. Rogers, Dercie Orr, Bertha Evans, E. B. Minich, G. W. Clayton, Faye Kixmiller, and the hostess, Miss Hester Hoover. The fire department made two runs Thursday. They were called about noon when the ditch digger at the town barn caught fire and about 6:30 when the home of Kenneth Brooks caught fire. Little damage resulted at both places. About a year ago the Brooks home burned and destroyed all his belongings. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kaylor of Farmersburg, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gordon, Thursday. ' Mrse.
