Vets Warned Not To Pay Own Bill If Training Now
L. C. Stanley, Chief of Education and Training in the Indianapolis Regional Office of the Veterans Administration today warned all veterans who are participating in on-the-job' training programs or apprenticeship programs that the Veterans Administration will not reimburse a veteran who pays personally for tuition, incidental fees, books, supplies, tools or other necessary expenses. Mr. Stanley said "veterans in need of tools should consult their
employer or the nearest Veterans
Administration Office or a VA
Training Officer who makes
periodic visits to all approved training facilities" "A veteran on training status" Stanley continued "is entitled only to the necessary hand tools that are required by the trainee to learn the job on which he is training,
provided that such tools are de
manded for all trainees, veteran and non-veteran, on similar training programs in the estab
lishment in which he is receiving training." . (
A veteran is' said to be on
training status under Public Law
346 when the firm in which he is taking his apprenticeship course or tjis on-the-job training course
is approved by the State Department of Veterans Affairs and
the Registration Section of the
Veterans Administration has
made an award of eligibility.
Further information may be obtained from the Veterans Ad
ministration Office.
