(UP) More than 3,000 of the university's 18,500 students eat every day in two cafeterias and a dining room in the Illini Union Building on the University of Illinois campus. The university figures the average cost per student at $1.46 a day( compared to $1.80 a "dy spent by students eating elsewhere.

MERCHANT MARINE CADET EXAMS TO BE HELD IN APRIL
Appointments to the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy are available to qualified youtig men in the mid-western area. Young men between the ages of 16V2 to 21 will be permitted to take the entrance examination on April 4, 1947. Accepted applicants will . have an excellent opportunity to obtain, at no cost, a combined technical training and college education leading to a career at sea and, after sea ex-perence,-positions in the shipping industry and its allied activities. High school seniors scheduled to be graduated in May or June, 1947, who do not possess the required scholastic units on date of submission of application will be permitted to take the April examination if they submit a statement signed by the principal of the school certifying that when they pass they will have the required units.
