The evening, void of the usual business discussions, was devoted solely to a social hour and fun-ffest, with chairman Lula Bledsoe and her associates Iria Hampton, Mary Mood and Ruby Holdson directing the activities. Twinkling jack - o - lanterns backgrounded by shocks of crackling fodder made a mystic setting for the ghostly doings and prizes were awarded Marjorle Morris, ,Marjorie Walters and Lilly Morris for their outstanding costumes. - The party was given a double meaning when unit members arrived bearing gifts for the Foutz family of Paxton who recently lost their entire belongings in flames that destroyed their home. Refreshments of coffee and doughnuts were served the large number present and music and dancing succeeded the unveiling session.
SHELBURN LADIES AID The Ladies Aid of the Shelburn Methodist Church met in the basement for an all-day meeting recently. The day was spent in quilting. Paul T. Vermillion (Licensed Civil Engineer) Republican Candidate For COUNTY SURVEYOR Mr. Vermillion has been with the Indiana State Highway Commission on Survey and road construction work for the past 18 years with the exception of six months in 1942 when he was employed at George Field, Illinois as Engineer in charge of Road and Site Development. Friends will remember his work in this county, when in 1938-39 Mr. Vermillion was in charge of construction work on State Road 48 between Shelburn and Road 63 and during 1939 and 1940 when he supervised construction of Road 154 between Turman Creek and Hutsonville
and again in 1941 when Mr. Vermillion was in charge of
construction of the concrete pavement on State Road 48, Hymera, east to Road 159. Last winter Mr. Vermillion made several surveys in this county including one for a new road between Merom and Carlisle. At present he is engineer on a $400,000.00 road pro
ject south of Bloomfield. Mr. Vermillion's experience and
ability in the field of Civil Engineering amply qualify him for the office of County Surveyor.
