Bicknell Will Invade .".(Continued from -Page 1) ing up so well in these sessions that some of them will see lots af action tonight. One of the standouts noted in practice is halfback Rasky, a Jackson Hill candidate, - who has thrown his 155 pounds around in some of

the scrimmages like a veteran. Bicknell is hoping to bounce back into the winning - column tonight after a defeat by 1 a much-improved Dugger ' last week-end.- Dugger downed Bicknell's Bulldogs ; in one- of those heartbreaking one-point affairs, 13-12. Much of the ground-gaining duties of the Gold and Black team will probably be borne by Kenny Pack, 200-pound fullback. Shelton, halfback, may not do so much of the ball-toting but can be counted to toss a few passes and its reported he's good at it. One of Bicknell's stellar linemen comes in the way of Menke, 172-pound right end. This is his first year on the gridiron but (has already proved himself a dangerous man loner, comoliecried I Sullivan Any item mentioned in this ad in a combination ofi'rr is available 1oi -the pv.rihpiter individually and separately at the regular pi ice Per Bag At No Extra Charge ROOF COATING BRUSH : With Purc'h'ate oj 5 Cah. t. rifiilE ROOF COATING

Urges Schools To Observe Fire Prevention Week

Full cooperation of the schools in the observance of "Fire Pre vention Week" October 6-12 will hp nrffpH hv Dr. Clement T. Maian, state superintendent or public instruction, a member of the state committee, who has agreed to send to all the schools of Indiana, copies of the iire prevention posters, the special number of the magazine, "Fire Prevention News," the . bookmarks on forest fire prevention, and copies of the state school laws pertaining to fire inspection, fire escapes, and fire drills. 1 -. "We shall remind school administrators all over the state I that many school buildings and furnaces are old and obsolete because needed replacements, repairs, f.nd remodeling have been postponed, first due to the depression and later because of the war. Hence fire hazards have irercased and strict observance of the state fire prevention laws for operation of the schools becomes all the more vital if we are to avoid possible tragedies and property losses," Dr, Malan asserts. State fire prevention laws prescribe regulations concerning fire escapes, fire inspections, exits, and monthly fire drills in each school with a certified statement by school officials that such monthly drills have been beid in each school, The penalty for not complying with the xire drill law and filing i certified' statement that such drills have been held, is tho withholding of warrants for salary payment. Mrs. Beasley (Continued from Page 1) I Building at 13 West Jackson J Street. . Flames that ravaged the Times building in April of 1943 greatly I damaged the grocery stock of the store and the business was soon after sold to Charles Johnson, who had been employed by Mrs. Beasley for more than twenty years. He now operates the grocery on the north side of the public square.

I Prior to entering the grocery business in . its entirety, Mrs. Beasley was graduated from the Sullivan High School, later attending Normal and teaching in the schools of Sullivan county. i Following the sale of her groc'ery interest, she opened The Tot Shop at 22 North Court Street. Less ' than a year ago, however, i ill health forced her retirement and the business was purchased by Mrs. Luvica Crownover. Her exceptionally active life found her closely associated with the Friendship Class of the Sullivan Methodist Church. This group was originated more than fifty years ago by - a group ; of teachers headed by the late Richard Parks, former Sullivan County Superintendent of Schools, for the purpose of more widely distributing , the knowledge of biblical teachings of the Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Priscilla Embroidery Club of this city. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Claude Powell of 232 outh Main Street; and one granddaughter, Miss Jane Beasley Powell, with whom the deceased was especially close. v .The body, was brought to Sullivan and token to the Billman Funeral Home where it now lies in state. ' -Funeral services will' be conducted Sunday afternoon at three o'clock from the Billman funeral chapel.' Interment will be made in the Center Ridge Cemetery.
