1 JESUS' AND PURE LIVING f? 43 LESSON TEXT Exodus 20:14; Proverbs 4:14-23; Matthew 5:8; Philippians 4:8. MEMORY SELECTION Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the Issues ot We. Proverbs 4:23.
Moral corruption has been the
ruin of the great nations of the earth, !
and if history is not to be repeated; by the fall of our own nation, we must do something yes, something ". prompt and drastic. The breakdown ' of morals in our land is so evident;
and so widespread as to give gravt concern to social and national lead
ers. What then,' is the
doing about it? We do not like to talk about aduli tery and related sins. We must speak with care and tact, but per; haps the time has come for some' straightforward dealing with an unpleasant situation. I. Keep Your Home Fure (ExoL! 20:14). .'.., As the divinely appointed center - of man's life, the home holds place of such importance that it is the special target of Satan's offen-: sive. That has -always been true but it seems that in recent years the onslaught against the home has been Intensified. Any violation of the divine plan for the marriage of one man and on woman, in loving communion for the founding and maintenance of the home, is a direct violation of the law of God. ! It is also a violation of the law ot man. It brings serious results in the destruction of the home, and in,' the ruin of individual life physical,! moral and spiritual. i This awful sin (and do not let; a wicked world convince you that it is anything else) is back of much-of ..the discord and divorce in our. -American homes. v When we realize that in the City of Chicago, there is now one ,divorce for every three marriages, and that the ratio is rapidly becoming low er, there can be no question thai divorce Is a major evil in our day, Statistics are positively shocking, but they are cold and quickly Horgotten. But - who can - fail to see, . and who can forget, the awfol wn - brought into American home life bj divorce. '
CHRISTIAN SCIENCE ' SERVICES "Mind" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, August 25. The Golden Text is: "The Lord of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand" (Isaiah 14:24). Among the citations which com-! prise the Lesson-Sermon is the following from the Bible: "Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest
bring forth my people the children
of Israel out of kgypt. And Moses said unto God, Who am, I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt ? And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of
Church' , Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this
mountain ii.xt)uusa;iu-ii). The Lesson-Sermon also includes the following passages from the Christian Scienee textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" bv Mary Baker Eddy: "Moses
advanced a nation to the worship of God in Spirit instead of matter, and illustrated the grand human capacities of being bestowed by immortal Mind" (p. 200). "The human capacities are enlarged and perfected j

. Bijd as it is, the awful effect on parents is nothing compared to the nervous, moral and spiritual shock which comes to children In broken homes. Statistics reveal that now (1946) more than 70 per cent of the juvenile delinquents and young people committed to prison come from homes where divorce has entered to break down and destroy family life. H. Keep Tour Heart Pure (Prov. 4:14-23; Matt. 5:8). . Out of the heart are the issues of life (Prov. 4:23); hence it is of the utmost importance that it be kept in purity and devotion to God.. The heart in Scripture does not refer to the physical organ which circulates the blood, but even as that heart is the center of the physical life, so there is a spiritual heart which is the very center of man's inner being. Evil thoughts, unholy desires and ambitions hidden in the heart will ultimately be revealed in overt acts of ungodliness, unless God is permitted to regenerate that heart and make it clean. The solution for the problem of impurity is found in our lesson verses. First of all one must avoid the way of the wicked (Prov. 4:14- , 17). They are so evil that they cannot sleep until they have misled some poor souls and brought them down to their own. level (v." 16). They make sin and immorality look mysterious arid attractive. Don't be led into sin by the enticement of curiosity. Shun the cil way, which goes down with increasing darkness, by seeking the good way which "shin eth more and mere unto the perfect day" (Prov. 4:18, 19). The way of life is a bright and shining way. Don't let Satan fool you, young peo pie, into thinking the opposite. It's great to be a Christian! III. Keep Your Head Pure (Phil, 4:3). T.e mind of man is quick and active (that is, if he is really aliva and awake), and it wants to be occupied with something of interest.

THE WAY I TAKE : I would not choose my own way, As on through life I go, I would not make my own plans; They would be wrong I know. I cannot walk my own path, And travel where I choose. . I cannot know the best way; " I know I would but lose. I cannot see my own life, Which in the future lies. I. must not try to plan it; What means my feeble cries! I must but trust my Savior; He knows my every plan. He sees my feeble efforts; I do the best I can. He leads me in the valley, ' Where everything seems dim. He leads me on the mountain, To gain new views of Him. I catch a better vision; I love to see His face. I arm thyself for battle And start anew the race. I trust Him for the future; I follow where He leads. He lives me so much comfort , And, understands my needs. It may seem hard to follow; ' But joyous is the way, When we but yield to Jesus Go where the path may lay. I give my all to Jesus To use as He shall choose. I now submit to His plan And know He'll take me through.
WHAT IS HOME - - YOUR HOME
Now that the war is over you do not find many persons who when asked what home is, get that far-away look in their eye and perhaps a melancholy tear, as they answer, "Home . j . home is the most wonderful place in the world. A plate where Mother is tenderness and love and Dad is protection and understanding. Yes, home is more a spirit than a structure for I can still feel the warmth of my family there." , And to Mother? . . . home is the very perfection of life. She talks and leaches and in the wee hoiirs of the morning many a mother prays for those small one's so peacefully sleeping or that one that is s&far away. Home is where she builds her offering to God for the many blessings he bestows. There she makes her family altar and the beauty of that scene cf family worship is unsurpassed. Of a truth, home is the most peaceful blessing God gave to man and perhaps the most wonderful, for the love in the heme produces more good than man can enumerate. This Sunday is family Sunday at your church. Gather your children, mothers and fathers, and join in the worship and fellowship at the Sunday morning worship hour. God needs workers . . . His family is still growing.
