HOWARD HUGHES SERIOUSLY HURT IN CRASH Millionaire Howard Hughes was badly injured Sunday evening when a plane he was testing on its maiden flight crashed near Los Angeles. Hughes was taken to the Beverly Hills Emereency Hospital and placed under an oxygen tent. Although he suffered from third degree burns, he is expected to recover. ' t
MAY DENIES SHARING PROFITS Representative May, Democrat, Kentucky, told the Senate Mead committee last month that he never had any connection with an Illinois munitions combine, now under war profits investigation, except to help its principals
make a timberland deal at no profit to himself. The House military chairman, in a transcript of his statement made public yesterday by the war investigating committee at his request, said he "paid out every dollar" that he handled in the deal.
