"THE CHURCHES OF CHRIST SALUTE YOU." i Romans 16:16
PROTRACTED MEETING at MT. ZION (5 Miles East of Carlisle) April 15 to 28, Inclusive7:15 P.M. Herman Goble of Old Liberty in charge of singing. r.RO. a. j. Mclaughlin of Cham plain, Illinois Minister SONG RALLY ' April 28, 2:30 P.M. Public Invited
The Churches Of Christ And The Old Testament
You hear many strange things about the Churches of Christ and our attitude toward the Old Testament; such as: VThey don't think God wrote the Old Testament," "They won't take all the Bible." These and similar thoughts are passed around about the Churches of Christ.
the
What is our real attitude toward old Testament and the New?
: 1. We know that the authority of the Old Testament law ended at the cross. Paul assures us that Christ blotted "out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it but of the way, NAILING IT TO HIS CROSS." Col. 2:14." We are told that we were made dead to the law "by the body of Christ that we should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead." Rom. 7:4. So since' the law was nailed to the cross, and since we were made dead to the law. and since we are joined to Christ, we MUST understand ' that the authority of the law ended at the cross. . ' ' 2. We know that the examples of the law of the Old Testament were preserved for our warning. "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come." I Cor. 10 :11. We today, are not under the same law of the Old Testament, but we can profit by the examples under it. Rom.' 15 :4.
, 3. The prophecies of the Old Testament, together with its types and figures, are still profitable to us today, for in Christ we see the fulfillment of' them all. Paul used the Old Testament prophecies to prove that Jesus is the Son of God, Acts 17:2, 3, but he said by "the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified." Rom. 3:20. The Old Testament is inspired by God, for, holy men inspired of God, "spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." II Pet. 1 :21. It comprises a law given to Jews who lived before the cross, the New Testament comprises a law given to both Gentile and Jew who live after the cross. We are come to Jesus, the mediator of the new covenant. Heb. 12:22,24. ' Paul said the Jews never realized that the Old Testament law was done away in Christ, n Cor. 3:14, 15. They still talk about keeping the ten commandments, the Sabbath day, tithing, etc., when ALL these were Old Testament laws, done away in Christ. The New Testament contains, the law for men today. By it we, today, must be governed, and it thoroughly furnishes the man of God unto every good work II Tim. 3:16, 17, and is "the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth." Rom. 1:16.

Major handicap among American children is poor vision. It is estimated that close to 10 per cent of youngsters entering kindergarten have visual shortcomings. From grade to grade such shortcomings increase until about 20 out of every 100 children have visual errors when the time for grad
uation from grammar school rolls around. . Children unable to see properly are handicapped. They may be backward in School, problem children at home, or social wall-flowers in play. If a child's vision becomes worse because of neglect his whole development may be impeded. Frequently when the cause of the handicap is discovered and corrected there is quick improvement in attitudes and behavior. However, often neither child nor mother suspects that faulty vision underlies the discomfort. Poor vision in children may be caused by several factors. Probably the most common
cause is failure of the eyeball
to round out properly. Full ro tundity generally is not reach
ea uniu tne sixth or seventh year. Excessive use of the eyes fcr close focusing, poor lightingwhen reading, or malnutrition, may contribute to poor vision. 15efore entering school every child should be provided the security afforded by professional ophthalmic, advice, fol-. lowed by annual check-ups until the eyes are fully matured.

VERTICAL DIVE AVOIDS PLANE COLLISION Capt. Joseph Kelly, veteran Eastern Airlines pilot, related that he threw his ship into a vertical dive 6,000 feet over Trenton, N. J., to avoid a collision with an unidentified plane rushing toward him. The steep dive was made so abruptly that 21 passengers had no time to fasten safety belts and several were tumbled about. Kelly said the other plane, possibly a Navy craft, was flying at the wrong altitude under Civil Aeronautics clearance.
