I SEE THAT. . Early in the war tt was found that many air cadets had eyes that work slowly in recognizing fast moving airplanes. In several . instances friendly planes were shot down mistakenly for enemy craft, and not infrequently enemy planes were thought to be friendly until they moved into close positions. Visual training was insti tuted and methods developed which increased the speed of recognition as much as fifty times. Tachistoscopes were in stalled in training centers and the results were remarkable These devices, which have been used for some years in schools to improve the speed of read ing and to strengthen the vis ual . powers of observation, show words, numerals or shapes upon a screen for a fraction of a second, Practice wiin wiese devices speeds up the ability to "see" and rec ognize objects quickly. , f The air cadets used tachisto scopes which displayed the i forms of both friendly and ene my airplanes. Planes had to be counted, recognized and their positions on the screen noted. At the end of the training course the screens were exposed only one-fiftieth of a second, which talis for fast "seeing" and quick thinking. Other visual training activities were carried on by the airmen, ' prominent among which was a sort of football game to develop visuaJL alertness and the use of "side vision." j isuai training ana many innovations of modern optopetry are "working wonders" for the eyes of civilians as' well as for military personnel today. Your eyes are the key to your success and happiness. Let us check them at regular intervals. DR. C.E. FISHER Phone 420. Now

THE BARE FACTS The pastor of a certain povertystricken congregation down in Alabama made life miserable for his bishop by his numerous and heartrending applications for aid. At length the bishop informed him in no uncertain terms that in the future such appeals would be entirely ignored. The bishop enjoyed a brief respite from the begging brother, but at length came another letter bearing the familiar postmark of the needy minister's little village. Shuddering, the bishop opened the communication and read: "Dear Bishop: "This here ain't no appeal. "It's a report. "I has no pants!"
