THE mighty electric cablss that 0 recently earned the pover needed for Indiana's war plants are now engaged in X another vital, though happier, task that of conducting the power necessary to reconvert Indiana's industries to prosperous peacetime activity. 'And the power which never once failed in the war effort will not fail in its new task , cf helping to fill long denied civilian wants, providing jobs for war workers and returned service men, and electrifying , farms and new homes. . - t Foresight, wise planning, and a lot of hard work on the part of the Public Service Company of Indiana have assured a supply of ample, unfailing power for both wartime and peacetime needs of your community. ' The latest evidence of this look-ahead,' work-ahead policy is the installation of a new 50,000-kilowatt G-E turbinerenerator the third addition in less than two years. It brings the total capacity of your electric utility company up to 23;(Q0 kilowatts, Which is more than twice what it was befote Pearl Harbor. Such an expansion requires thoughtful planning long before the power is actually needed. For it takes nearly two' years to plan,' build, and install one of these huge turbine-generators. In addition, there are enormous boilers and condensers, and miles of transmission lines which also must be planned far ahead. But it was done, and done in time a great tribute to your elcctric, utility and its. policy of preparedness. ; General Electric salutes the more than 2500 employees who helped to carry out this policy, and the management for its progressive action. As the world's largest builder of steam turbine-generators, we count it a privilege to have ; had a part in this expansion program which made such a vital contribution to the war effort and now backs up Indiana's reconversion job. . j Today electricity costs less in Indiana than ever before -
