Arrows Nip Spencer, Fall Before Dugger Sullivan's Golden Arrows divided their week-end twin bill of hardwood battles at the local gymnasium, turning back the Spencer Cops in a thriller Friday night, 39 to 37 and dropping a 40 to 35 verdict to a hardfighting quintet of Dugger Bulldogs Saturday night. Spencer took an early lead against the Keck cagers, holding an 8 to 5 load at the end of the first quarter but Sullivan came back with a sparkling offensive display to forge ahead 23 to 14 by the half intermission. They kept the net hot as they poured through 18 points in the quarter. They were able to maintain a comfortable lead in the third period which closed 30 to 2t, however ' were hard-pressed before the game finally ended when Spencer sent in a substitute forward. Franklin who scored at a dizzy pace. He totalled 11 points in the last few minutes of play and nearly sent the game into an overtime with two field goals in the last minute. Sims racked up 15 points to pace the winners. Sullivan's B team fell before the Spencer reserves 23 to 17. A packed house was on hand Saturday night for the renewal of the Sullivan-Dugger rivalry that saw both teams battle, in a frenzied .tempo throughout. Sullivan was ahead 9 to 7 at the end of the first quarter and Dugger took command in the second auarter to forge ahead 15 to 11. Although the -game remained close the Bulldogs showed no signs of letting up and stayed ahead 25 to 22 at the third turn. Hampton, Bulldog guard sparked their efforts and was particularly effective in the final quarter as he ; hit timely baskets. Boone, however, led the Dugger scoring, counting 12 points on three field goals and six free throws. Coach Keck used every mem-i, ber of the Sullivan squad in a futile effort to stem the Dugger; ruh. Libke'812 points topped the Arrows' scoring efforts. The Golden Darts of Sullivan took the preliminary game 25 to 16. Play State Tomorrow Sullivan is scheduled for a West Central Conference game Tuesday night, facing State High at Terre Haute. On Friday night they will invade Bloomington to meet University High.
