This Morning's Headlines 25,000 TROOPS TO FLY ACROSS XJ. S. PER MONTH. The War Department announced last night it is expediting release of former railroad men from the Army and making available enough planes and pilots to fly 25,000 troops monthly across the country. Acting Secretary of War Robert P. Patterson said the two measures were "intended to relieve the pressure on the nation's railroads in connection with the redeployment of American troops."

LUDLOW SAYS NEW RATION BOOK NOT NEEDED. Representative Ludlow, Democrat, Indiana, said Tuesday that spending $750,000 for a new ration book would be a "needless expense to the taxpayers" and suggested that the OP A authorize instead the use of stamps left in ration books 3 and 4. Ludlow made the proposal in a letter to Price Administrator Chester Bowles. He said that only three stamps in Book 3 have been used while Ration Book 4 contains 48 unusued green stamps and 67 urtused spare stamps.

FOUR CONVICTED IN DEATH PLOT. A Circuit Court jury at Battle Creek, Michigan, convicted four Detroit mobsters of conspiracy to murder the late State Senator Warren G. Hooper. Hooper was shot to death in Jiis automobile on a lonely road between Lansing and his home in Albion January 11, four days before he was to testify against Frank McKay, former Republican committeeman, in a legislative graft case. The state accused the four of taking part in a $15,000 payoff plot to slay Hooper because he had "talked too much."

Recovery of $2,293 in silver and pennies part of $111,300 two armed bandits took from a pair of bank messengers at Burbank, Cal. today gave police their first clue in southern California's biggest robbery in recent years. Seven-year-old Gilbert Abelar, who chased his baseball into a garage his mother rented to a soldier three months ago, got credit for discovering the money along with two revolvers and ammunition. - .
