This Morning's Headlines HORROR CHIEF GULPS POISON. Hangman Heinrich Himmler, chief , of the dread German Gestapo and symbol of allMhat was bestial in Nazism, committed suicide by poison, stripped naked but for his socks, at a villa at Lueneburg in northwestern Germany. He took the lethal dose even as a British Army doctor was. searching him for the poison. He had been captured Monday, in disguise, by two Eritish guards F.t Bremervoerde, west of Hamburg. The doctor was searching Himmler minutely. He put two fingers in Himmier' mouth. Himmler bit down on the doctor's fingers and the tiny blue phial of cyanide of potassium he was trying to conceal in his mouth.
Fifteen minutes later he was dead.
AUTHORIZE 200,000 NEW AUTOS; IJQUOR "HOLIDAY." Chairman J. A. Krug of the War Production Board announced that djstillers would get a month long "holiday" for production of liquor in July. Krug made the announcement at a news conference at which he also said the automobile industry has been authorized to make about 200,000 passenger cars this year if they can get the materials. The automobile production announcement was released Thursday afternoon at Detroit. Authorization of the third liquormaking holiday within a year was made possible, Krug said, by the suspension of lend-lease alcohol shipments to Russia and the increased use of petroleum instead of alcohol by the synthetic rubber industry.
