The back yard garden seldom needs any lime. It is very rare to find a soil from a city lot that is acid enough to require an appli
cation of limestone to produce ood vegetables. As a rule, dark.
Colored soils need less lime than
according to
Agent J.
Howard Telfer. Deep sub-soil thrown out of basements during
T excavation usually contains .limintr material; this is often scat
tered over the back yard when the building is constructed. Most of the acidity of the soil has been corrected at this time, even the sprinkling water contains enough lime to correct some of the acidity. Wood ashes and decomposed leaves also contain a large amount of lime. . It is more common to find the garden over-supplied with lime than it is to find one deficient with lime. For the production of good vegetables this abundance of lime is not to be worried about.

She denied that the tavern had run out of beer about ten p. m. and that ehe and the step-daughter and some other persons
had drunk highballs for some time after that. George Hardin and Mrs. Trump also testified this morning, their stories virtually substantiating the testimony given 1 by the defendant. Ben Trump and Rudolph Keene, Hymera residents, were also on the stand before the noon recess of court. "
The state rested its case at the opening of this morning's session of court without further introduction of witnesses and Mrs. Hardin was the first defense witness. Principal witnesses had been on' the stand by noon today and it was probable that evidence would be concluded by the time court has adjourned this afternoon. The state began presentation of evidence Tuesday afternoon, introducing 12 witnesses before court was adjourned last night. Ned Woodward, State Police officer; Hubert Sevier, former county sheriff; Cecil Scott, town marshal of Hymera, and Walker McHugh, former county coroner, testified as to being summoned and seeing the body and its 'position. It was established that the slain youth had fallen in such "a
position that his head was 18 feet jfrom the Hardin house and his I feet some six feet closer to the ' house. ! Mike Croney and Ben Trump,
wno live in the neighborhood, testified as to seeing the body on the night of the shooting and Anne
I Croney testified that she saw the Gorby.y6uthwalking down the street a few "minutes before the shot was fired. Mrs. Cravens, another neighbor, testified that she heard the shot and also testified as to weather conditions at the time and Lex Tribble told the jury that he had seen the Gorby

This Morning's Headlines STEPHENSON CASE ORDER REv6kED. The Indiana Supreme Court yesterday revoked its order of last week setting April 17 as the date for arguments on a petition by which James A. Emmert, attorney general, sought to block the latest, efforts of D. C. Stephenson to get a -new trial. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court received a petition, from Stephenson asking permission to appear in person in connection with the case. Stephenson is now in the Hamilton county jail, where he' was brought for his latest pleading before Judge Cassius M. Gentry of the Hamilton County Circuit Court. If he won there, he would get a new trial. The attorney general has
I filed petition for a writ of prohibition against the Hamilton County
