Hidden treasure! lliere is someinc. about it that catches our imaginations at:tl stirs our expectancy ol discovering f.rcat riches. Men are ruiisiantly ruing on expeditions to Mirk out lat.t treasure. Others are r Staged in study and research to briitr; out now treasures in nature or in the realm of learning or art. ' Why not stir up a little excitement about the unbelievably rich treasures which are hid in Christ and in the life of faith in Him? It is not hidden, except to the eye of unbelief, but it is greatly neglected and all but forgotten by many. The Scripture portions assigned far our lesson are not aswell adapted to it as one could wish, but we may make good ute ol them. We learn here: I. The Cost c.f Redemption (13:44!ti). Undoubtedly the lesson cominillee 'i. id hi mind the usual interpretation J these parables, which presents lite sinner as the one seeking the treasure ai:rl giving up all . that he may h-.va Christ. While it is true that our redemption is worth more than anything ' eUe in all the world and that the Christian would gladly set aside (or would he?) everything for Christ's ?al;e, yet that does not fulfill the thought of this parable. After all, tvhat has a sinner (whose own righteousness is described in Scripture as "filthy rags") to sell in order to obtain redemption?' And is it for s-ile? (See F.ph. 2:8). v Obviously, we here iiave the Saviour with His all-seeing eye and loving heart noting in fallen humanity the pearl of great price, His own Church. He then gives up all the flory He had with the Father,

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SERVICES "Soul1' is the Subject of the Les-son-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, February 18. , The Golden Text is: "Truly my soul waileth upon God: from htm cometh my salvation" (Psalms 62:1). Among the citations which comprise the Lesson-Sermon is the following from the Bible: "Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, tie good to them that bate you, and pray for tlicm which dcjpitrfully use vou.and persecute you; That ve may be the children of your Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 5:53-45). "Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law" (Romans 13:10). Tim Lesson-Sermon" also includes the following- passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" bv Mary Baker Eddy: "It should be. thoroughly understood that all men have one Mind, one God and Father, one Life. Truth, and Love. Mankind will become perfect in proportion as this fact becomes apparent, war will cease and the true brotherhood of man will be established" (p. 467). "When we realize that there is one Mind, the divine law of lovim' onv neighbor aa ourselves is unfolded" (p. 205).

THE PRAYER OF A NATION

When to anger we are stirred, By a hasty, thoughtless word, And for a quick retort we're ready Dear Lord, hold Thou us steady. When we strive for naught but good, Yet find ourselves misunderstood, Folks to criticize so ready, Dear Lord, hold thou us steady. If fortune crowns a brave endeavor, Lands flatter ,us. and call us "clever" And pride inclines us to be "heady" Then, dear Lord, oh, hold us steady. When griefs and sorrows deep o'erlake us, Our trusted friends seem to forsake us, Still know we One, whose love is ready To hold us close, and hold us steady. A new day dawns bright before us, God's loving care, as ever, o'er us. Whate'er betide we know Thou art ready To say, "Fear not, I'll hold thee steady!"

To every follower of our Lord I here comes a moment when the Master places His hand on his shoulder and says, , "Lift up your eyes. Behold the fields, white unto harvest." It is the prelude to the later charge, "Go make disciples." Whoever fellowships with the Savior and experiences the joy of His saving love will inevitably find himself asking the question, "Howscan I best share this great salvation with others?" No greater honor conies to man than to he called into the Lord's service and asked to bring to a lost world His invitation to life eternal. To this call some respond in the words of the prophet, "Here am I, Lord, send me." These go into full-time service, some at home, others abroad! Still others respond, "Use me, Lord, in whatever way I can be uf service i,n Thy Kingdom." The number of these is very great. In congregations we find them inviting- others, instructing the young, encouraging I he tired, stimulating the laggards, comforting the sorrowing, supporting; every effort to reach the unsaved and to share ih them the unspeakable love of Christ.
