Early Friday morning Mr. Scott telephoned to Sheriff Strouhe to go to the Alexander home and arrest Alexander and Deputy Sheriff Mike Kelley drove to the farm to make the arrest. Upon his arrivel there he found Alexander in bed from injuries said to have been caused by his being run over by an automobile. His condition was such that • the officer decided he could not be brought to town. He will he arrested later, however and brought to town a sotm as his condition is such that he can be moved. Mr. Scotl ton Friday told the following story of the trouble: His son-in-law, he says, became intoxicated Thursday evening and began to beat his wife. N'eighhbrs interferred and telephoned for Mr. Scott, who sent his son to the Alexander home. When he reached the Alexander home, Alexander was crazed with drink and threatened hi« life. The son took the infant sen of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander and fled, leaving the horse and buggy he had driven to the home behind Later, while neighbors held Mr Alexander, the wife ran through a field 'to the home of a neighbor, who took her to her father's home. Alexander it is said, then secured a shot gun and razor and getting into the buggy started to look for his wife, swearing that he would kill her. He drove, to Mr Scott’s home, cursed and threatened Mr Scott, and then drove away Later a party of TfePauw students driving in an automobile stopped at a farm house and told a farmer that a dead man was lying In the road nnar his home. The farmer investigated and found Alexander lying in the road in an unconscious condition His horse was tied to a phst by the side of the road. This morning Alex andcr told a physician, who was called, that he had been run over by an automobile. He is badly bruised hut his condition is not serious. It is said. Engineer Ferguson. and Fireman lister Crawford, all of whom live in Greencaavtle, struck and fatally inured a woman, by the name of Mrs. Kerschner, at Jordan, ou the I. ec L. branch of the Monon, Friday noon. The woman wa« crossing the track when the engine struck her. She is deaf and did not hear the train approaching. Her condition is critical. Conductor Hensley is one of the roen who were injured in the wreck ut Wallace Junction several weeks ago. The 1. & L. hrauch of ibe Monon intersects with the uiain line, at Wallace Junction. The divorce suit of Nbeta B. Howell against Elmer Howell, which had been set for trial, was dismissed Monday. Mr and Mrs. Howell have settled their diffeienefs and will live together. W . S.
