Taber ami wife were called to Manhattan Friday by the serious accident of Mrs. Taber's father who was struck by an auto. James Bales is sporting a new rubber tire buggy. Mrs. Ettie Hunter and family of Cloverdale are spending a few days with her mother, Mary Williams and family. George Ditamore and family of Greencastle moved into our parts last week. Brady Jones and family of near the Shaker church spent Sunday with his father, Havilah Jones and family. Miss Alice Greenlee of Cloverdale was a Sunday visitor with Miss Ethel Morrison. George Lasley and family spent Sunday with Wm Stroup and family. Remember the lecture next Sunday night by S. S. Barb. His talk will be given on the Sunday School work.

A welcome rain; the dust was most to thick to be healthy. It seems that winter has come these cold mornings; better get your wood and coal ready. Mr. Dillinger purchased a horse of Robert Irwin. Clarence Rowings has quit school on account of his health. John Gardner and family called on A. J. Johnson last Sunday afternoon. Success to our good old paper the Star-Democrat. WALM'T VALLEY A man by the name of Prince has moved on the Charley King place. The work on the bridge over little walnut is progressing nicely. John Graves and wife of Dougins, Kansas, are visiting Wm Walls and other friends and relatives. Douglas Carpenter and family visited at G. A. Fuqua’s Saturday night and attended church at Long Branch Sunday. The sale of Stoner Brothers was well attended and things sold well. James Alspaugh and sister visited the former two sons Walter and Willie of Greencastle Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. James Job and Mr. and Mrs. Levi Carpenter attended church at Ottercreek last Sunday. Mrs. Ellen Mathews spent the day with Mrs. Katie Foster last Friday. Miss Sadie Caylor has left here and gone to Coatesville. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Scott of Amo visited his mother Martha Scott on Saturday night and Sunday. Mrs. Belle Raiker visited Mrs. Geo. Hill Thursday. Mrs. Maranda McCammack has moved to her place south of town. Emory McCammack and wife visited her sister, Mrs. Frank Reed at Coatesville Saturday night. Rev. T. C. Vaughn is on the sick list. Mrs. Johnny Scott is no better at this writing. Bell Elrod and wife and son Vernice and wife visited Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Masten last Sunday. Mrs. Clara Hill and son Eldern visited her mother Saturday. Allen McCammack is boarding at George Hill's and attending high school. Mrs. Martha Scott attended the Grand Lodge of Pythian Sisters at Indianapolis last week.
