HUTCHESON IS COUNTY PHYSICIAN

Dr. O’Brien resigns as coroner because of 111 health. For the past two months he has been very poorly, and Is now- in Martinsville for hi- health. The resignation was accepted and E. B. Lynch, of the' west side furniture store, was appointed to fill out the unexpire 1 term of Dr. O'Brien. Dr. O'Brien also resigned as County Physician, and the Commissioners accepted the resignation and appointed Dr. Hutcheson to fill the unexpired term made vacant by the resignation. Later In the day the Commissioners went into Marion Township to look over and to accept, if the specifications have been filled, the Jesse Jones et al road which the contractors report as finished.

Dr. King, County Health Officer, was in Mt. Meridian Thursday afternoon where he found Dr. Wright suffering with diphtheria. Dr. Wright had contracted the disease while caring for little Paul Hurst who is now recovering. Dr. King quarantined Dr. Wright and also closed the school at Mt. Meridian. It Is proposed to keep the school closed till time shows whether any of the several pupils exposed to the disease are likely to he affected.

After singing the meeting adjourned for lunch, which was served in the corridor just outside the G. A. R. Hall. The lunch was delightfully served and most heartily appreciat-

ed.

After dinner the ho-ts and visitors a.-sembled in the gaily decorated assembly room for the afternoon’s program. After music the large audience listened to an address by J. D. Alexander. The speakers efforts were well received and much appreciated. Mr. Albert Moran gave a song that was one of the hits of the afternoon. The meeting was then given over to short addresses by visiting members of tho G. A. R. and W. R. C. Short talks were also given by members of the local post Was flaily Decorated. The square was gay with flags Almost every business house displayed the patriotism of the proprietors and their respect and veneration for the old soldiers as expressed in the unfurling of flags, old Glorv fluttered from doors an 1 windows and bunting wa-- twined about posts and draped in the show windows.

Elam Denny, T. T. Moore. William Hunter and Charley Conklin constituted the drum corps, which niad'> music. Mr. Moore played the fife, Mr. Hunter the bass drum and the other two men tennor drums.

LINEMAN HAS EYE HURT

Fred McNary lineman for the telephone company is suffering from an injured eye, the result of a strand of wire striking it. The eyelid was cut and the ball slightly injured but it ! s thought his sight will not be affected.

S. H. JUDY DEAD

Ex-County Commissioner S. H Judy died today at noon at his home northwest of the city. None of the particulars have yet reached us. Mr. ■indy had been seriously sick for several months, and the end was not unexpected. He was widely known and honored over the county, and the news of his death will be heard everywhere with sorrow.
