Governor Hanly Issues Proclamation Against Shipment of Unhealthy Stock into State.

WILL ENFORCE THE NEW LAW

Governor Hanly has issued a proclamation against the shipment into Indiana of rattle thrt are affected with tuberculosis or other contagious diseases. Hereafter cattle shipped to Indiana must bear a regularly signed certiflcate from health authorities from whence they came, stating that they are free from contagion. The governor, State Veterinarian, A. W. Bitting and members

of the board of health believe that Indiana has been made a dumping place for diseased cattle shipped here from Ohio and Illinois dealers. Prof. Bitting recently submitted a report to Governor Hanly stating he found many tubercular cattle shipped to Indiana. The state food examination department of the health board has made an investigation in several large cities and has found that tubercular cattle were being used in dairies. It has been found that many of these cattle were shiped to this state. The governor proposes to enforce with vigorous hand a law enacted by the last legislature giving him the authority to prohibit the shipment of cattle into the state that have not been officially inspected and pronounced free from disease
