Annla MacPwlney, who went on hunger strike at the gates of Mount Joy prison five clays ago In protest against the Imprisonment of her sister, Mary, collapsed today. liroken by starvation and exposure, ehe fell In her tracks. Friends made a bed for her near the Jail gate and covered her with rugs. She had complained of great pains In her head, which, she siiü were getting worse anfl worst. Friendly women with tender handt) bound her head with bandages which they moistened with water. Inside the prison. A little group of women remained with Annie MacSwlney during the night, bathing her hand3 and face and praying. Groups cf strangers gathered a timea to look upon this strange and pathetic cene. Some wept as they raw the haggard woman hunger striker totter from her chair or f.ing herself down upon her muddy mattress for a brief respite from her vigil. Girt Is Killed. A 16-year-old girl was killed while attending a meeting of protest against the continued detention of Mary MacSwlney. Public bodies are demanding an Inquiry claiming that Free State troops fired upon the meeting: So far, the government has shown no disposl.lon to modify its stern policy towards the Republican. OiTlclals at Mount Joy prison said that Mary's condition v.-as "unchanged."
