NILES SHOPMEN AWAIT ORDERS TO TAKE JOBS NILES, Mich., Sept. 15,— Members of the six federated shopmen who fare on a strike must await orders from Pres't Tanny of the federated
shpocrafters, before returning to work,
according to a telecram received by O. M. Worvey, an officer of the local union. When the order is received about 450 men will return to work at the Michigan Central terminal shops here. In commentiing upon the conclusion of the strike, local men declared that none will go back to work until all may go.

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 16,—Gov. McCray sent a letter to State Sen. O. C. Holmes, of Lake county today stating that no official investi-gation gation of alleged brutality to prisoners by the Gary police will be obtained until a formal complaint is filed with the executive. Sen Holmes in company with Ralph Bradford called at the governor's office to discuss alleged mistreatment of persons arrested in Gary. It was said that the police have been beating prisoners with club and rubber hose in order to force confes- sions.
