Th!3 store enJ yed no little prosperity and additional stores were opened at the rate of two a year. January 1, 1913. Mr. Iywis and Mr. Ward formed a partnership. With Mr. Lewis assisting Mr. Ward In the management of the business additional stores were opened and considerable prosperity enjoyed. However, a few weeks ago Mr. Lewis decided to retire from the bur.ineps and the transaction was consumatcd July 1st. at which time all of Mr. Lewis' interests were taken over by Mr. Ward. The local was opened a year ago thlf .-print?. The bite now occupied by the Ward store was foremrly Warner's farm Implement sales room. Tb-' building was entirely pone over and remodeled at a great ex pensf. niaborate fixtures were in-.-'alhd, makir.jr Ward's one of the finest exclusive women's stores in the middle wejat. The local store carries a complete line of ladies ready-to-wear, millinery, hosiery, wait?, underwear and shoes for women and children, and i under the nersonal management of Mansfield F. Lose, Mr. Ror?e joined the organization five years ;iko cominsr to the Ward 5LIwis stores from George Bernards. ZT, S. State ?t.. Chicago. After le.ivinpr the military 5ervlcp the Hammond store was opened for Mr. Itnse. Here he met. with exceptional success which resulted in his belr.rr placed in eharpre of the local store. Mr. I los- is a buyer of wide experience and has eharce of the buying in the millinery, waist, ho-iery and underwear departments. He Is agisted in the millinery department by Ml.s Olive S-hork. The cloak and suit department H under the personal .supervision of Francis J. Vot. who for nine years was buyer for Carson, Pirle & Scott. Mr. Voirt has had wide experience in the cloak and suit business and has earned an enviable reputation as a buyer of fine merchandise. He joined the Ward Lewis organization three years apo and came to South Fend from Grand Rapid., Mich., where h made a bir success of the ladies ready-to-wear department In tint city.
