Texa., where he remained for a year as prefect of discipline, libs aNsignment to the pastorate of the .Sacred Heart Church at New Orleans followed his year at St. Kdward'M college, and while pastor in Xew Orleans he-wa also a teacher iu Holy Cross college in that city. Hewas transferred from Neww Orleans to St. Tatrick's parish Jn and has In ci liere ever since. Leader in Chip Affairs While Father Carroll's transfer i will not mean that he will leave the city, his loss to the parish will 'never-! theless bo keenly felt by his parish. During his pastorale here he manifested the keenest interest in civic affairs, and was always among the bailers in any movement that had the interest of the citv at heart. Father Carroll is particula rlv fit ted for his assignment as profesor j of Kngllsh and of Irish literature nt Xotre Dame. He hus always been a student of Irish history and Irish Literature, and is regarded as one of the best authorities on both.
