The Visiting Xurse as-cociation will give a luncheon In the Itotary r om of tho Oliver hotel Tuesday at 12:.50 o'clock. At which time a mefs-age of vital Interest to all women will be brought by Mrs. Ira Couch Wood, president of tho Illinois Training School for Nurses for some year?. She was the first director of the Woman's committee of the Council of Defense for Illinois and later the first executive secretary of tho Woman's committee, c'ouncil of National Defense, in Washington, serving in that capacity until organizations were .started in every state. At the end of the war Mrs. Wood became director of the K.izabeth McConnick Memorial fund, a private foundation devoted to Improving the condition of child lifo it: thlcountry. This fund 1? especially devoted to pcneral health education and nutrition classes for underweight children, as well as propaganda for open air schools. Mrs'. Wood is also chairman of the Child Welfare division of the Ceneral Federation of Women's clubs and in this position issued a
i program for child welfare work for women throughout the country. At this time when the nation Is being aroused from its complacent attitude by the many proofs of malnutrition anion? the children; when one-third of our young men had been rejected from joining the army on account of physical unfitness which might have been corrected in childhood; and when other r statistics show at hast half of our School children to have serious physical handicaps which retard their development while on-third of them have been found to be under-nourished, it Is a rare privilege for the weinen of this city to be able to secure a woman of such broad experience to bring first hand tha message which Mrs. Wood will bring on Tuesday. The luncheon will be served at mall tables and each table will be presided over by a hostess representing a trustee or director of the Visiting NurcO association. Each member is allowed one guest and for those who especially desire to attend this affair, an arrangement can be made by a request to any member of the association.

Statement Concerning Facts of Traced v. nY M:BHL XOR3LVND. (Written Tor the United ITos.) (Copyright, 1IC2. by United Tresa.) DOS AXGELHS. Feb. 11. Thi? 1? my own story of Just whit happened on the night of my last visit to William Desmond Taylor, the evening of Feb. 1. In response to a telephone call left by Mr. Taylor at my home during the afternoon of the day he was killed, I stopped at his house between 7 and 7:13 in the evening. The purpose of my call was to pick up a book which Mr. Taylor had purchased for me that afternoon, knowing particularly that I wanted it. He had already sent one took to my home, but had requested me to stop for this one, which I assumed he had purchased later. Upon my arrival, I was let into the houso by Henry Deave. Mr. Taylor's valet, who informed me that Mr. Taylor was conversing with scmo one over tho phone. In a few moments after my arrival, Mr. Tay
lor aidf good-bye to the party with whom he was conversing and left the telephone.
He preete-d me. He had Just finished dinner and his man had cleared away the table, but he asked me if I would not let him have something prepared for me or go out to dinner with him later. I declined, explaining that I w?.3 tired and that I had an early studio call to make the next morning. Copy of "Police Gazette." I said that I intended to go home early, have dinner and go to bed. For- 25 minutes Mr. Taylor and I sat discussing various books and photoplays. About 20 minutes to 8, I prepared to start for hdme. Mr. Taylor walked with me to where my car was parked at the curbing. There was a copy of the "Police Gazette" in the car, which he noticed. He chJded mo for having It in my possession, remarking that Freud, Haeckel and Xietzche were hardly compatible with such literature. After an exchange of repartee for a few minutes, I bade him good night and directed my chauffeur to drive me home. Before I left, Mr. Taylor promised to phone mo at my home within an hour. He never did. As William (my chauffeur) pulled away from the curb, I looked back and saw Mr. Taylor standing there, gazing: after me. I wave.l my hand. Not Kngagod to Taylor.
I was at
home. I immediately retired, having dinner served to me in bed about 8:1.". The first knowledge I had of Mr. Taylor's death was when Edna Purviance phoned me the following morning about 7:2. She told me that Mr. Taylor'a
