The association litis done all in its power to facilitate and hurry alone the business to be transacted, ottlcers paid, and from the small number of applicants now arpearlns daily, it Is indicated that most of the motorist of this district have obtained new licenses. Search is still beins made for tho owner of license plate number 169374 who carried off the license without leaving1 his name and address. The person who secured number 170063 Monday morning did the same thinpr. and persons in eb.arrre of the office are making a aliant effort to find those who failid to leave the cards. Police of South Hend and Mishawaka are on the lookout for these two numbers.
Proposed Scwerape Syptem for ; River Park is Discussed ! at Joint Session.
Further consideration was given to a sewerage system for Kiver Park by the beard of public works at their regular meeting Tuesday when a community civic committee of tivu men discussed with the board tho proposed undertaking. The committee was headed by Councilman Thornton of the fourth ward. City Engineer V. J. Anderson explained to the committee that plans and specifications were presently being worked upor by his office with a view of preparing fiome tentative program in this direction. S. Michigan st. pavement, recommended to the board by Mayor Eli V. Sebirt two weeks ago, was also la ken under consideration and an informal meeting will be held by the board Jan. '4 at which interested property owners are requested to be present. The affected strip to be given considei ation lies between Dunmojer and Ewing avs., and it if declared is at present in an almost impassible condition. A petition was filed with the board for the paving of Ruih st.. frcm Indiana ;:v. to llaney st. The board will take up the matter for 'ontideration in the spring.

Credit Men to Banquet at Oliver Thursday '. M. J. Warren Sloie, secretary-treasurer of the Howard Severance Co., publishers. Chicago, will be the visiting speaker at the January dinner of the South Ber.d Association of Credit Men Thursday evening at 6:30 o'clock at the Oliver hotel. Mr. Slote. who will speak on "Organization," Is a member of the Chicago association and contributes regularly to their bulletin. "Credit Craft." The local speaker will be Dr. Elmer Ward Cole of the First Christian church. He will have as his topic Atmosphere." J. F. O'Keefe, secretary of the Chicago Association, will accompany Mr. Slote, and will also speak.

Measures to tighten the recurrence of such contests as the Newberry case were IiToposed to the senate today. Sen. Willie offered a resolution to amend the constitution in such manner as to obviate the objections of the supreme court in its decision on the corruft practices act. This is tho new article to the constitution suggested by Willis: "The eormr ss shall have power to regulate the us" of money by any person in connection with the selection, nomination, or election, in any manner, of a candidate for election to the house of representatives or the fonate of the Fnited States. "Section 2. That nothing in this article shall affect the power of any stat?." The resolution and proposed amendment were referred to the judiciary committee. Sen. Pomerence offered a new rule for the rcnate. which virtually cmbodies the corrupt practices act held unconstitutional by the supreme court. It is intended to meet the views set forth in the opinion.
