the greatest cooperative effort in the history of South Bend when citizens show appreciation
for their war heroes takes place next Monday night. The celebration will be held in the mammoth administration building of the Studebaker corporation, just south of the New York Central, between Main and Lafayette streets. Every citizen of South Bend and every person, who has been in the war service of the United States, owes it to himself or herself to be present.
HERE are the facts about this gigantic enterprise in a nutshell: Folks, who were not in the service, are asked to buy tickets of admission for $5 each or whatever price they desire to pay. Men and women, who were in the service, their wives, sweethearts and mothers, are to be admitted free. Their uniforms or their service button will admit them. Most of the expense of the reception has been contributed by patriotic firms and individuals. The money derived from the sale of tickets will be turned over to the St. Joseph County Red Cross, to be paid out to deserving war veterans, who are found to be in adverse circumstances. THIS is the first concerted effort to show our war heroes appreciation for their deeds and sacrifices, when they marched bravely away to war, back in the distressing days of 1917 and '18. They did not flinch then. YOU should not flinch NOW. Every citizen should put his shoulder to the wheel, to make Monday night s celebration the greatest in the history of grand old South Bend. LET nothing keep you away from Monday night's celebration!
