Mr. Hynes' appointment is a recognition of seven years of efficient pervice with the road and Is in keeping. with the policy of the company to advance their executives througrh the various channels of promotion. The nwv president has filled the office of vice president for a year and a half and succeeds to the presidency mado vacant by the deah of tho former head of the road Wallace Ballard, who died Lxst May. Mr. Hynes' appointment as president takes effect imme-diattiy. Since the death of Mr. Ballard, the vice-JpresideT.t had been filling the responsibilities of both officials. There will bo no appointment to the vice-presidency in the immediate future, it was stated Saturday. Prerft Hynes was absent from the city Saturday and it was impossible to obtain a statement from him.
