The Michigan Hay and Grain Shippers' association has begun a campaign for lower freight rates on hay in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois to southern points on the Grand Trunk line. Tracy Ilubard, of Chatterton & Son, Landing hay and grain dealers; Frank Young, of Young Brothers Hay company, and Harry Northway, of Owcasko, president of the .Michigan I fay and Grain Shippers' association, has returned from Chicago, after having attended a conference with the- Central Freight Traffic association. The conference was called by the National Hay association and was attended by dealers from. Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois, and by a delegation from Pittsburg. Hubbard, who is secretary of the state afsociation, said that if a cut in rates is not forthcoming within tbe next two weeks, the- matter would h". placed directly before the interstate commerce commission at Washington.
