Bonus checks continue to arrive in Buchanan r.f-arly every day, and the following ex-service men have trecently received checks from the state department at Lansing: Bay F. Ft five ns, Ilobert Sparllnsr. freorgre Smith, John Oxenrider, Arthur D. Morley and I'eayl Bur'oyne. All of thepe men eerved In the army during the world war. and to date none of the local men who served in the navy have received their checks. Mrs. Ilobert J. The -m-pany recently contracted to furnish transmissions on all three-quarter-Ion trucks manufactured by the Stcughton Truck company for one year. Funeral services for Mrs. Fannie McEwen, who died at the home of her daughter. Mrs. H. C. Maynard. in Hartford, Mich., Avu'. 2. were held at the Maynard home in that city Monday afternoon and inter ment was made in the Hartford city cemeterv. Mrs. McEwen had live in Buchanan during the greater part I of her life and was well known inj this section of the country. All students who wish to take the entrance examinations for admission to the Buchanan high school r:iut present themselves at the high t-chool building Friday morning, Hept. 2. at 9 o'clock. The public schools will crpen for the fall term Tuesday morning. Sept. 6. Samuel Bunker is convalescing from his recent illness. Mrs. A. H. Miller is on the sick list.
