The shooting was done by Sherwood Mills, aged 7, on of Lew Li Mills, with whom the Pope's were visiting. The Mills boy pointed h:afather's gun at the Pope children and not knowing it wis loaded, pulled the trigger.

REPORT FINANCIAL STATUS OF CONCERN

INDIANAPOLIS. Sept. 1. In an order Issued Thursday by the public ervice commifiPion, the recommendation was made that the Hawks Electric company and the Goshen Municipal plant cease competition either by construction or division of territory. The commission said it dd not have the power to require the change. The municipal plant obtains its current from the Hawks companw under a contract for less than one and one-half cents a killowatt hour, and the commission's order raised this price to two cents. Rates of power to consumers at Goshen also were raised but no inrrease was applied to public or commercial lighting rates.

Championship horses and beef cattle are the outstanding feature? of the big exhibit which the Michigan Agricultural college has sent to Detroit for the annual state fair which opens there this week. Ten prize winning draft horses and 10 selected pur bred animals from the college cattle herds are included in the list. "Retter profits by improved farming methods." will be the central note of the M. A. C. exhibits, which are diveded under the main heads of home economics and agricultural building. A complete dairy manufacturer's exhibit, a special tent holding displays illustrating cow testing and bull association work in the state, and a farm management display, including recently prepared price curves on farm products, will be other outstanding features of the college show.

SEYMOUR, Ind., Sept. 1. Resumption of the inquest relative to to the murder of A. Montgomery'. was planned Thursday by Coroner George T. Manuel of Jackson ty, Ren Brooks, who authorities say has confessed that he committed the murder, i.s held at the Indiana Reformatory at Jeffersonville. The coroner said he expected to call five witnesses in his investigation of the death.

Smith, superintendent of the Grand Rapids office of the Michigan free employment bureau, believes by the Increased number of men placed in employment. During the early part of the summer and until two weeks ago there were 20 men and women placed daily in employment. During the last twq weeks the daily average has reached 30, -with the high mark of 5 for one day.
