Al Landsman -tslte4 friends and relatives in Niles Thursday. Lou Landsman has returned from a business trip to Munde, Ind. Mistes Holen Hanlin and Marjorie Walter were in South Bend Tuesday. Marcus Treat was a business ititor in Niles and South Bend Thursday. William Stevens visited friends in Nis Wednesday. The community picnic, under the auspices of the Odd Fellows of Buchanan, will take place- at the hitrh school grounds on July 4. Two bands will furnish muaic during the afternoon and evening. A number of prizes will be awarded to the con. testants in the various races, horseshoe pitching contests, etc. Everyone in the vicinity of Buchanan is invited to attend th picnic. Following the band concert Wednesday evening, a dance was iven in Iough' hall under the auspices of the Odd Fellows. Best's orchestra furnished mus-ic. Fuller's new dance pavilion at Clear Lake is rapidly nearing completion and a. formal opening will be held pomtim during the early part of July. The pavilion has been built out from the old dance floor and now extends over tho water sev eral feet making it a oool and enjoyable place in which to dance. The cottages are nearly all filled at the present time and Manager Charles H. Fuller predicts a record-breaking crowd at the resort this summer. - A number of new boats have been delivered at the lake and the may b? rented from resort headquarters. Community nifht has been changed from Wednesday night to Tuesday night by members of the M. K. church. Mrs. Joseph Tichenor and family are. expected hone from Lansing this week for the Fumm-er months. Arthus Voorhees was a busincFis visiter in 'Nile Thursday. A meeting of the Boy Scouts of Troop No. 1 was held in the opera house building Thursday evening. Laurence Banke has arrived In Buchanan for a month's furlough from the Mafine corps of the United States. Miss Susie Aalf.i is attending the Iowa State Teachers college at Cedar Falls, la. Mr and Mrs. Fred Stulls have returned to their home in Gary, Ind. Tlord G. Smith of Nile visited frtends in Buchanan Thursday. BERRIEN SPRINGS The Neighborhood club had a party at Fischer's pavilion Friday ovening. A large crowd was present and dancing and a social time were enjoyed, also a delicious luncheon. Small of South Bend, connected with the Southern MichiIgan interurban, gave an interesting and educational talk on traffic matters and explained some of the problems of transportation companies.
