NEWS News-Times Office H. A. MONHAUT WEDS MARGARET DUHDON Ceremony at St- Joseph's Church - Rereption at Home of Bride's Sister. Harry A. Monhaut and Miss Margaret Mary Dundon were married in a nuptial high mass at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Thursday morning at 8 o'clock. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Dean L.. A. Moench, in the presence of 150 relatives and friends. The decorations at the church were ferns, paIms, cut flowers and visual lights. Prof. A. G. oerstmann played Mendelssohn's wedding march. The bride was attired in a gown of wite silk georgette over white satin trimmed in French siIk piquoted ribbons, wore a full length veil raught with lilies of the valley and carried a shower bouquet of brides roses and sweet peas. She was attended by her niece, Miss Margaret McCauley, thls city, who wore a dress of white French imported organdy, trimmed in piquoted ruffles, a. pic-ture hat of pink organdy trimmed in rosebuds and ribbon and corsage bouquet of colored sweet peas. John B. Monhaut, brother of the groom, acted as best man. Rudolph and Raymond Van DeViere, nephews of the groom, were the ushers. Following the cerimony a reception was given at the home of bride's sisters, Mrs. Raymond Monhaut.. A three-course dlnner was served by the Misses Irene McCauley and Mabel Sheets, nieces of the bride and groom. Among the out of town guests who attended were Mr. and Mrs. R. E. LETTERS AWARDED AT ASSEMBLY IN HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM Athletics for this season were brought to an official close when monograms, sweaters and numerals were awarded to the baseball, basketball and interclass basketball teams at a general assembly in the high school auditorium Tuesday morning. Sweaters were awarded to those receiving two letters in major sports, monograms to the basketball squad and numerals to the senior nine as winners of interclass baseball and also to the junior basketball squad as winners of Interclass basketball. The junior team were also given a 3x5 felt pennant as school basketball champions. All of the basketball squads re-ceiving monograms will graduate thls year, leaving Coach Mueller with no veterans to build up a new quintet for next season. The following received sweaters: Hunt. AWARD CONTRACTS FOR FIRE STATION Board of Works Employs All Local Contractors for Erection of New Building. Henry Schmidt was awarded the contract for the general construction of the new south side fire station, corner of Eighth and Main sts., at a special meeting of the Board of Public works held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. All of the contracts were awarded to local people. Schmidt's price for the general construction was $17,468.42; C. L. Barnard & Son for the heating $2,200; John C. Distler for the plumbing, $1,158; Mishawaka Electric shop for wiring, $172. making the total $21,399.22. LIQUOR VIOLATOR IS FINED IN COURT Peter Regenovich, 411 S. Laurel st., was found guilty of the unlawful possession, of intoxicating liquor and was fined $100 and costs by Special Judge Fred Bingham in the city court, Tuesday morning. Hale Clemons was introduced at the trial as a police officer, having been on duty since May 23. He testified that he entered the Regenovich store on May 31 and purchased a pint of white mule for $2.50. The police then raided the store and found a quart and two pint bottles of the liquor. Dr. Maurice Rosenthal Speaks to Physicians Dr. Maurice I. Rosenthal of Ft. Wayne addressed the staff and nurses of St. Joseph's hospital Monday evenincr. Physician were present from Elkhart, South Rend, Bremen and other neighboring towns. Dr. Rosenthan spoke on "Carcinoma. X-Ray and Radium." He also praised the local hospital and paid especial tribute to Sister Columba. This was the first out of town speaker the club has secured and plans are now under way to have more such meetings. Following the lecture light refreshments were served. Escapes Injuries When Horses Run Away M. Coil, driver of a team of horses belonging to the city, luckily escaped Injuries Thursday mornlng when the horses become frightened while engaged in removing the grass and weeds at the Merrifield bathing beach and ran away throwing Coil from the mower. Street Commissioner Charles Doollttle captured the horses at the corner of Union and Third sts. The mower was badly damaged. According to Coil the horses become frightened by bum-ble-bees. RETURN MORESBY BODY FROM PARIS Requiem Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame, on Friday, June 17. The funeral of the, late Very Rev. Dr. Andrew Morissey, former Coadjutor General of tho Congregation of the Holy Cross, who died at Paris, France, May 2, will be heId from the church of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame on Friday morning, June 17. body left Paris Sunday, June 5 and is expected to reach New York on June 12 where it will be met and accompanied to Notre Dame by Very Rev. Charles L. O'Donnel, Provincial of the Order and Rev. Father French; Assistant General. Rev. Dr. Sauvage, Procurator General of the Congregation, who was with Fathter Morissey at the time of his death in Paris, will accompany the body to Notre Dame upon its expected arrival Wednesday, June 15. Many friends of the deceased churchman are expected to attend the funeral. Details of the arrangements for the Requiem mass will be announced later, Including the celebrant and deliverer of the sermon. IMPORTANT MEETING. Signatures Insufficient To Warrant Election, Said GOSHEN, Ind., June 7.- A petition filed with the city clerk here April 30, in which the council was asked to order an election under provision of the Knapp law for the purpose of getting an expression on the commission-manager form of government, was held to be Insufficient after Charles H. Crowell, clerk, certified to the council that it lacked 29 of the required number of legal signatures to render it effective. Three hundred and twentythree of the signatures did not bear dates and were without either addresses or dates, leaving but 388 legal .signatures, when 417 were required.
