Real Beer Again Flows Over Bars Of Chicago Inns Windy City Feels Return of the "Good Old Days." Ey Fnltod Tress: CHICAGO, April 6. The "good old eiayu" were back in Chicago today. Heal prehistoric beer flowed In tho golden and frothing streams over the bars of most of the reformed saloons and the thirsty wero drinking long and deep. Chlcagroans, the malted tpecles. were looping the loop from one cafe to another and lining up to bars which were three deep. The push of bar towels and the leud confidential conversation between patrons rave the aspect of the "old days" with but one thing missing the bowl of pretzels, "Drink up and buy yourself another," was frequently heard. All of which means that treating has passed. Most drinkers now belong to the "Dick Smith club" they buy their own and drink it. I3eer, about six percent, is Hing for 30 cents a stein. One brew-dispenser was asked how ho got his supply. From behind his white apron, he replied. "We robbed th brewery. "vY are going tp rob It on the first of each month. Have another stein?"

After Mr. Seal had finished telling hij wife about the circus h had left, ho picked up his newspaper and hi3 pipo and started to read r.galn, or at least he pretended to read. John Wanamaker's Advertising Maxims
Yesterday John Wanamaker was the exception in retail advertising. Tomorrow the merchant who does not observe the Wanamaker maxims will be the exception. Here are three of them: Speak truly of the store and its merchandise. Give a reason for a special price or an extra quality.
