About 1 5 years ago two modest young men came to South Bend and started a Lathe Works. The first and one of the smartest things they ever did was to name their company the South Bend Lathe Works. Then, they took off their coats and went to work hard. They produced. And those who use lathes found their product good. These men are twins the O'Brien twins, John and Miles, or Miles and John, you don't know which is which, but, they have made their lathes so good that the world has tramped a path to their door sixty-four different countries are now using this South Bend product. So the O'Brien twins part in making South Bend "World Famed" will go down in history, for their fame as super-builders of lathes is now international. South Bend Lathes hace a proud reputation that has spread far and wide to all countries and every clime. In the shops of Java, Shanghai or Melbourne the name South Bend is as well known as perhaps any city in the world, except New York, London and Paris. Industrial plants have recognized the superior merits of this product; hence the old adage that "two heads arc better than one," has proven its truth this time lor sure, for these ingeniously constructed Lathes are the result of the combined ideas and thought of two brains. Few people know the twins apart, even after 1 5 years in our midst.
but their ideas and their lathes are spreading the news of South Bend's j greatness over land and sea. So when you consider the whole world a5 a market and the O'Briens' ability to "keep everlastingly at it" South BenoV
is a great gainer by having these men and their operation. To prove this, make a visit to the South Bend Vocational School where 98 of our population will be surprised when they see not only a battery of South Bend Lathes in operation, but also a Vocation School that ranks 3rd in efficiency in the United States. The O'Briens have done more for;
