Four Men Alleged to Have Staged Bank Robbery Accused of Slaying. Special to The News-Tlmes: PLYMOUTH. Ind.. Feb. 24.---An indictment charging murder In the first degree was returned by the Grand Jury here against four men who are alleged to have participated in the Culver bank robbery, Dec 29, last year. J. J. Fox and J. R. Burns of Chicago, A. Silbert and Joe Beyers, of Knox, are charged with the murder of Russell Saine, dry goods merchant of Culver, whom they are alleged to have shot following & gun fight in the streets of Culver. Saine died a few weeks ago from the effects of the wounds received. The alleged murderers were brought to this city from the Mlchlgan City prison, where they were taken shortly after their capture, when the local officials feared In the event of Saine's death that the prisoners would become the victims of a mob of enraged citizens of this community. Atty. Reed of Knox accompanied the men when they were brought into court. Mr. Reed explained that the defendants' Chicago attorney was unable to be present and asked that the reading of the indictments be postponed until a later date. The trial of the men, however, has been set for the May term of court. It is believed that they will attempt to secure a change of venue. In the court room the prisoners failed to show any signs of nervousness, over their impending fate, and on the contrary were dressed in "beau brummel" fashion. The Culver bank robbery occured in broad daylight. Shortly after the bank opened the robbers entered. Two customers and five officials, including Frank Schilling, president, were in the bank.
